TOPO ONE by RECON ONE

Current capability

TOPO ONE

Topology (TOPO) One is a RECON ONE cybersecurity analysis capability that transforms authorized network evidence into evidence-backed analysis of IT and OT environments.

From evidence to priorities

Understand what matters in the environment—and why.

TOPO ONE connects observed assets, services, and communications with architecture, vulnerability, configuration, and security-policy context. It helps teams move from understanding the environment to identifying concerns, evaluating relationships and reachability, analyzing potential attack paths, and prioritizing practical follow-up.

  1. Understandassets, services, communications, and context
  2. Identifypotential vulnerabilities and security concerns
  3. Connectrelationships, segmentation, and reachability
  4. Analyzeconditional, potential attack paths
  5. Prioritizeevidence-backed actions and validation

Authorized evidence

What TOPO ONE analyzes

TOPO ONE analyzes authorized customer-provided or otherwise authorized packet captures, including PCAP and PCAPNG, together with approved technical context when it is available. That context may include architecture diagrams, inventories, site-policy assertions, and product, service, or vulnerability information relevant to the assessment.

Current capability

Connected cybersecurity analysis

The analysis keeps observed evidence separate from analytical inference and makes important assumptions, constraints, contradictions, and evidence gaps visible.

Assets, communications, and architecture

Identifies capture-visible endpoints, internal and external relationships, group traffic, observed services and protocols, passive identity indicators, and logical communication patterns. Results describe what the available evidence supports—not a guaranteed complete physical inventory.

Vulnerabilities in environment context

When passive product or service evidence and approved offline vulnerability intelligence support the analysis, TOPO ONE identifies potentially relevant vulnerabilities and evaluates whether available version, platform, feature, and traffic evidence supports applicability. Unresolved patch or product details remain explicit validation needs.

Configuration and security-policy concerns

Evaluates observed behavior for concerns such as exposed or legacy services, unexpected communications, segmentation issues, and architecture or policy conflicts. With an approved site policy, TOPO ONE can compare observed flows with asserted zones and conduits. It does not claim access to every device configuration.

Reachability and segmentation

Builds a capture-local logical model of observed, inferred, permitted, denied, unknown, and contradictory relationships. This supports service-aware path and boundary analysis, while recognizing that silence in a capture does not prove isolation.

Potential attack paths

Analyzes conditional paths using available reachability, service, product, vulnerability, architecture, policy, prerequisite, and constraint context. A potential path is an analytical finding—not proof of attacker presence, exploitation, or compromise.

Evidence, confidence, and traceability

Connects material findings to supporting and opposing evidence, confidence, assumptions, and reasoning context. Incomplete or contradictory evidence remains visible instead of being converted into certainty or an unexplained score.

Vulnerability context

More context than an isolated vulnerability list.

TOPO ONE does not replace dedicated vulnerability scanning or vulnerability-management platforms. It adds environment context by connecting potentially applicable vulnerability information with observed products, services, communications, architecture, segmentation, and reachability.

This helps distinguish evidence-supported concerns from generic intelligence and shows where a vulnerability, exposed service, configuration issue, or policy conflict may have greater significance because it contributes to reachability or a potential attack path.

IT and OT

Passive analysis for operationally constrained environments

TOPO ONE analyzes captured evidence without requiring the capability itself to actively probe, exploit, or modify production devices. That approach can support environments where uptime, safety, fragile systems, or change control make intrusive techniques undesirable.

In IT and OT environments, TOPO ONE can help characterize observed services, protocols, communication patterns, segmentation, and boundary relationships. Industrial identity and Purdue context are qualified by the evidence and assertions available; incomplete passive visibility is not presented as authoritative asset classification.

Useful outputs

Executive clarity and technical depth

Engagement deliverables are defined during scoping. TOPO ONE supports a shared evidence base for leadership decisions, practitioner investigation, and remediation planning.

Executive reporting

Significant findings, architecture and exposure concerns, vulnerability and policy context, reachability implications, prioritized actions, and clearly stated limitations.

Technical reporting

Observed entities, communications, protocols, identity and vulnerability context, configuration or policy findings, reachability, potential attack paths, evidence, and validation guidance.

Architecture and structured analysis

Network and architecture visuals plus structured artifacts that support repeatable analysis, traceability, reporting, and authorized downstream workflows. Customer delivery contents remain engagement-specific.

A proprietary capability within scoped RECON ONE work

RECON ONE uses TOPO ONE to support Vulnerability & Architecture Reviews and related cybersecurity assessments. It is an analyst-operated capability, not a public upload portal or self-service subscription product. Scope, evidence suitability, analytical coverage, deliverables, and required human review are established for each engagement.
